About the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers

The Academy's membership consists of over 6,000 individuals from the legal community, including: Plaintiff and Defense attorneys; Members of the Judiciary; Government employees; Law Professors; Law Clerks & Law Secretaries; Paralegals and Law Students. Each member benefits from the Academy's comprehensive approach to advancing our profession while embracing the core values of our legal system. The Academy's diverse membership base and strong grassroots network allow us to advocate on a wide array of legislative and political matters.

Education and Publication

Academy members enjoy FREE access to hundreds of high quality Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs, offered Live on Zoom, via our On Demand platform with Seminar Web, and various destinations abroad via CLE Excursions with Academy partner CLE Abroad.

Members enjoy access to our CLE Materials Library and Daily E-Clips news service of the latest legal headlines. And, our community receives regular invitations to view Live Court Proceedings as part of Special Term, a project of our Associate Board of Directors.

Social and Professional Networking

The Academy hosts several social and networking events each year in honor of individuals whose contributions to our community deserve recognition and celebration. Our annual Membership Reception serves as a swearing in of our esteemed Board of Directors. All events are free for members and sponsors.  

Political Advocacy

Our Board and membership support our positions on issues of import to a healthy civil justice system. The Academy's full-time professional lobbyists at The Parkside Group represent our members and provide a strong presence in the state legislature on a wide variety of issues impacting the civil justice system.
